《实用英语口语技能拓展教程》于2016年首次出版。五年多来，这本教材得到了广大高职高专院校师生的一致认可，并一直被许多院校用作全国职业院校技能大赛高职组英语口语赛项和其他口语测试的训练教程。教材推出后，不断收到职业院校师生的反馈——他们在充分肯定这本教材“易用”“好用”“实用”的同时，也就进一步满足个性化教学需求方面提出了许多期望与建议。此外，《高等职业教育专科英语课程标准（2021年版）》将职场涉外沟通和多元文化交流列入学科核心素养，对高等职业教育外语教学提出了更高的要求。因此，我们组织作者团队对教材进行了修订。修订后，共十章，每章主要包含五部分内容。各章从不同方面，循序渐进地对英语语音知识和发音规律进行了讲解；从不同维度对图表描述和问答交流中的语言知识和表达技巧进行了剖析。各部分均配有与讲解内容相呼应的练习题目，供师生结合教学情况选用操练。本书还附有相应练习参考答案（Keys for Reference）、全国职业院校技能大赛高职组英语口语赛项真题、高等学校英语应用能力口语考试真题等学习资源。
