《综合英语教程》是为我国师范院校英语专业学生编写的英语专业基础教材，第一版2002年推出，本书为第四版。其套系构成学生用书1-6、教师用书1-6、同步练习1-6，本书为学生用书第5册，供英语专业高年级阶段使用。本书采用“专题研究”的方式编写，每级有4个主题（教育与成长、家庭、文学、建筑），每个主题分三个单元。这三个单元是一个完整的整体，其最大的特点是把“教—学”的过程扩展为“教—学—研”的过程，教学方式主要采用“专题研究”。
