万天丰教授出版过同名图书的中文版,现在修改了原来的一些内容,并增添了大约2%的内容。万教授1938年出生,1959年毕业于北京地质学院地质测量与找矿系,1988年任教授、博士生导师,是第二届北京高校教学名师奖获得者。今年仍在为3多名博士生开设构造方面的课程。曾经撰写地球科学概论,销售3多册, 在承担学校的教学任务的同时,万天丰老师坚持科学研究,他先后承担或负责国家攻关项目、省部级项目和国家自然科学基金项目等共12项,9项获得国家级、省部级成果奖。

本书可供研究人员、地质学者在大学教学和地质研究中使用,也适合于矿山、石油公司的地质工作者,以及地质类或矿产资源类研究生使用。
